FAQ

Most commonly asked questions from new members to the Hungry Intellectuals Book & Supper Club.

Q. How are books on the group's reading list selected?
A. Members make this group successful. With that said, books chosen for each month are decided by club members who volunteer to be an Assistant Organizer.

Q. How do I become an Assistant Organizer?
A. Contact the Organizer, Heather Curtis, via email or in-person at the next book club meeting and ask!

Q. I love good food, but am not a great cook - do I have to make what I bring to the potluck?
A. No! You are more than welcome to bring a prepared dish from the store. All we ask is that you try to bring a food item that ties into the designated dinner theme of the month.

Q. What are the dinner themes?
A. Dinner themes are chosen by the Assistant Organizers of each club meeting. They are usually (but not always) tied into the book in some way.

Q. Are there membership dues?
A. No! One of the benefits of our club is that there are no member fees. All we ask is that you contribute to the potluck dinner in some way, either with a dish, side item, or even a bottle of wine! *Note: Meetup.com charges Organizers a substantial annual fee for using their web service. This is why many Meetup groups charge dues. This group however, seeks alternate funding through sponsorships and fundraisers like hosting speciality dinners and selling novelty items.
